The Lahore police have revealed a startling statistic: 62% of the complaints they have investigated involving the sexual exploitation, kidnapping, and rape of women and children have been found to be untrue. Following an inquiry, the police deemed the allegations to be without merit and dropped them.
Up to August 7 of this year, 4,990 cases pertaining to crimes against women and children were registered, according to police records. Nevertheless, 3,099 of these cases were deemed to be without merit and were eventually dropped following a careful investigation, according to the police.
6,118 people were listed as accused in the cases that were reported, according to the police records. Women’s kidnapping accounted for the greatest number of false cases—2,221 reports were found to be fake. Likewise, 223 spurious allegations of sexual assault were thrown out.
