Farhan Asif was brought before a court on Thursday by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Wing in Lahore. Asif is a suspect in a case involving riots in the UK that were started by fake news. The suspect was placed under physical remand for one day by the court, with an order to appear in court the following day.
Additionally, the FIA has been ordered by the court to provide a thorough investigation report by the following hearing.
Farhan Asif is charged with using social media to disseminate false information and incite disturbances in the UK. After receiving a complaint from a cybercrime technical assistant, the FIA Cybercrime Wing launched a case against him in accordance with sections 9 and 10A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
