In addition, he was participating in the eighth-tier English rugby competition with his hometown team, Basingstoke.
However, as an American football player, the 23-year-old Briton currently holds one of the most coveted positions in global sport.
Following a hectic 2024, Clayton will start his rookie year with the Buffalo Bills, who shocked everyone by picking a player who had not yet played a single NFL game in this year’s draft.
“I worked in an office last year,” he said to Sport. “I can tell you that I didn’t imagine I’d be standing here right now, playing for the Bills.
However, I’ve always been passionate about playing American football. All I needed was a method to be pushed.”
This is Clayton’s journey from an office job to a multi-million dollar contract, along with his current progress.
How did Clayton grab the attention?
Growing up, Clayton participated in a variety of sports. In 2019, he went to an NFL Academy tryout, which took place in the UK that year.
With the goal of helping students obtain college scholarships in the US, the organization provides full-time coaching and instruction to youths from Europe and Africa.
After only a short time at the academy, Clayton did not realize the potential it provided, so when he was given another chance, he was resolved to seize it.
