The chief of Punjab’s anti-monkeypox committee, Dr. Javed Akram, has threatened to step down over the Border Health Authority’s and the airport administration’s lack of participation in the campaign against the disease.
In an exclusive interview with television, Dr. Akram highlighted his dissatisfaction with the Civil Aviation Authority, pointing out many problems impeding efforts to stop the disease from spreading.
Dr. Akram chastised airport authorities for their non-attendance at crucial meetings pertaining to the prevention of monkeypox. “The airport authorities are not cooperating, and when it came to training the airline staff, no one was sent for the purpose,” he said. He continued by saying that airport representatives had once claimed inclement weather to avoid attending a conference.
