The district government in Azad Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad district has declared that all educational institutions will be closed on Friday.
The choice was made as part of preventative steps to keep staff and students safe in the case of deteriorating weather.
Mudassar Farooq, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad, affirmed that the choice to close schools was taken in order to shield pupils from any possible danger.
“Our first concern is making sure our kids are safe. We are doing all within our power to protect them under these unfavorable weather circumstances,” Farooq stated.
Numerous landslides have occurred in the area since the rains started on Wednesday, forcing the temporary closure of important roads. Mudslides blocked the roads that connected Islamabad and Muzaffarabad, however they have since been cleared.
