Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja presided over a pivotal meeting of the Election Commission that was unable to come to a consensus on how to carry out the Supreme Court’s ruling pertaining to 41 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seats.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja chaired a four-hour meeting during which the Supreme Court’s mandate regarding 41 PTI reserved seats was reviewed.
There was long discussion, but no conclusion was made.
The main goal of the gathering was to put the Supreme Court’s judgment into effect, which calls for independent members to join PTI and provide the party the reserved seats.
Discussions were held with authorities, legal experts, and members of the electoral watchdog. Nevertheless, the ECP made the decision to seek additional legal expert consultations, and they will meet again tomorrow to continue their discussions.
