Chief Justice Aalia Neelum of the Lahore High Court has demanded a comprehensive record from the Punjab government within ten days of adding names to the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL). She wants to know if criminals’ names were added or if only the names of politicians were added.
On Tuesday, LHC CJ Neelum heard a plea challenging the inclusion of names in PNIL “unlawfully” under the FIA’s authority. Through attorney Azhar Siddique, Munir Ahmad filed an application asking the court to stop the relevant authorities from adding “names of citizens” to the PNIL.
The legal representative claimed at the beginning of the case that PNIL’s establishment constituted a “complete violation” of the law.
