According to a news statement, Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi made the choice while presiding over a meeting at his office.
Following the arrest of over thirty-six professional beggars—27 of them were in district Central alone—the commissioner was notified that the administrations of the city’s seven districts were coordinating their efforts.
Mr. Naqvi emphasized the necessity of taking decisive action to end the severe issue and gave the traffic police and deputy commissioners (DCs) instructions to coordinate their efforts against professional panhandlers.
He claimed that there were professional beggars in every area of the city, causing problems for the populace.
In order to determine the components and causes of this problem, he gave the DCs instructions to work in conjunction with pertinent agencies, organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
