The Punjab government has lowered transportation costs in reaction to falling gas and fuel prices, according to Information Minister Azma Bukhari’s announcement.
There have been fare reductions ranging from Rs20 to Rs190, with the Lahore – Karachi route witnessing the largest reduction of Rs190 in fares.
Additional reductions include a Rs. 20 decrease for Rawalpindi and a Rs. 50 reduction for travel from Lahore to Peshawar.
Bukhari emphasized that the only province lowering fares in line with the decline in fuel prices is Punjab.
Throughout the province, bus stops have displayed updated fare lists.
The government has urged other provinces to follow Punjab’s lead in order to reduce travel expenses for passengers, as this is the fifth straight tariff drop brought about by lower gas prices.
