Pakistan’s exports increased by 14.11% to $7.875 billion in the first quarter (July–September) of the fiscal year 2024–25, from $6.901 billion in the same time the previous year.
But the nation also had a growing trade deficit, which went from $5.214 billion in the first quarter of the previous fiscal year to $5.435 billion, a 4.24% increase.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reports that imports increased by 9.86% to $13.310 billion during the same time last year, from $12.115 billion.
The trade deficit reached $1.780 billion in September 2024, up from $1.479 billion in September 2023, a year-over-year increase of 20.35%.
From $2.471 billion in January of the previous year to $2.805 billion this month, exports increased by 13.52%.
