Sustainable farming is Samiya Mumtaz’s primary passion outside of acting.
Raised in an environment where creativity and social consciousness were prized, Mumtaz was drawn to the arts from a young age.
She remembers, “My school encouraged me to do a lot of acting.” “My phuppo would write plays at home, and we were the test subjects who performed them.”
“Theatre really inspired me,” I said. I begged to be allowed to perform by the late Madiha Gauhar of the Ajoka Theatre. She objected, stating she wasn’t into acting. However, Madiha asked me to step in when a vocal trainer from abroad arrived and there weren’t enough women signed up for his training sessions, which gave me my first opportunity.
