The “fifth season” in Punjab is now referred to as smog, with a heavy layer of pollution enveloping industrialized and urbanized cities from October to January. Smog and foggy conditions are mostly caused by climate-induced weather patterns, which include low wind speeds, high relative humidity, and temperature inversion in Punjab’s major cities.
