The BBC reports that critics are giving Emma Stone’s film Poor Things extremely positive ratings. Meanwhile, the nudity and graphic scenes in the dark comedy are receiving too much attention from certain commentators.
Speaking about Bella Paxtor in the film, the actress from The Amazing Spider-Man said on Radio 4’s Front Row that “Bella is completely free and without shame about her body.”
“But I see it as only one part among many – her discovery of cuisine, philosophy, travel and dance,” she simply remarked regarding Bella’s “experience and her progress.”
Stone emphasized that the scenes of revelation were an essential component of her character’s development.
Later in the conversation, Andrew Garfield’s ex-girlfriend revealed that she thought Bella was a genuine person who did not hesitate to embrace her sexuality while making her way through the uncharted territory.
“It felt like a lack of being honest about who Bella is, so for the camera to kind of shy away from that, or to say like, OK, well, we’ll just cut all of this out because our society functions in a particular way,” the woman said.
