The decision to discontinue contracts with five independent electricity producers has been authorized by the federal cabinet.
In an effort to lower electricity prices, the decision was given on Thursday during a cabinet meeting in Islamabad.
According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government and the corporations have mutually agreed to end the contracts.
2,400 megawatts are produced by the five IPPs whose contracts are ending for the national grid.
Among the IPPs are
Hubco (1,200 MW)
AES Lal (362 MW)
Power Atlas (224 MW)
Saba Power’s 136 MW
Power plant Roshan (450 MW)
