Being abruptly nude in public is a common nightmare when we’re asleep. On the other hand, when we’re awake, bad clothing choices might make us feel like we’re in a nightmare. The British fashion designer Bella Freud argues from her West London studio that wearing the incorrect clothes may make you feel as though there is something wrong with you. “Are you not curious as to why that is? And how can it be fixed? Yes, I do. I’m fixated on it.
With the debut of her new video podcast, Fashion Neurosis, this month and including guests like Kate Moss, Freud hopes to disentangle the relationship between style and mental health.
According to Cox, Freud refers to it as a “fashion chat show” in which her well-known acquaintances recline on a couch in a therapeutic manner as she examines their buying habits, ingrained anxieties, and favorite denim outfits. She says, “I’m really curious to find out how our emotional health is reflected in our wardrobe.” A dress isn’t simply a dress, though.
