Following vigils this weekend in Liverpool, New York, Paris, and Madrid, vigils were also conducted in Glasgow and Paris.
Payne, 31, fell from his third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday and died from various injuries.
It’s “comfortable being with other people… because these people get it, whereas back at home, you’re just kind of on your own, and it’s quite tough, you’re stuck in your loneliness,” said Lauren, 26, from Kent.
She stated that while she was “prepared for it” following the diagnosis of Payne’s brain tumor, his passing was more devastating than the passing of music artist Tom Parker from The Wanted.
When Payne passed away, Tess Hayden, a 24-year-old American, was on vacation in Dublin. In an attempt to attend a vigil, she made the decision to shorten her vacation and head to London.
My older brother and I had been planning a vacation to Dublin for some time, and I knew I would try to visit London at some point during the trip. However, when I woke up and received the news, I thought, ‘well, I’ll simply travel a day earlier (and) try and work it out.'”
