Qasim Roonjho, the head of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), reversed his accusations that he was kidnapped and coerced into voting for the 26th Constitutional Amendment on Tuesday, shortly after making the shocking assertions at the news conference outside Parliament House. Roonjho resigned as a senator.
Roonjho, the leader of the BNP-M, announced his resignation as a senator in the early hours of Monday after voting in favor of the much-discussed judicial package, which went against his party’s policy line.
Alongside party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Roonjho made the statement at a news conference on Tuesday. The BNP-M leadership claimed that Roonjho had been kidnapped before the tabling and voting on the constitutional amendments that focused on the judiciary.
