MANSEHRA: According to The News on Wednesday, Rashim Jehangir, the first female Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Balakot Police Division, has urged women to come out and submit their first information reports (FIRs) in response to the injustices committed against them.
Speaking at a gathering of female sub-inspectors and constables in Balakot, she stated: “We need to change the police culture where women feel hesitant to come forward and lodge their FIRs against crimes inflicted upon them.”
Following her appointment on Tuesday, the police official called the conference of female-only sub-inspectors and constables.
The police were there to serve women, she added, and “we must eradicate gender-based violence and other crimes committed against women and this will only be possible when we change the existing police culture.”
