In reaction to the increasing levels of air pollution, the Punjab Environment Protection Department has instructed pertinent institutions to take immediate action.
In order to shield children and the elderly from the negative effects of smog, the government has announced changes to school schedules in Lahore, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached 150.
To reduce children’s exposure to contaminated air, Lahore schools will start no earlier than 8 a.m. from October 28 to January 31, 2025, and all outside activities would be suspended during that time.
Authorities have advised the public to take precautions, such as donning masks and keeping an eye on the daily AQI values via the Environment Protection Department app, and students are obliged to gather indoors.
