After leaving Radio in February, the former I’m A Celebrity competitor joined the commercial station in April.
In the third quarter of 2024, his show had 2.96 million listeners, whereas his predecessor, Roman Kemp, had 2.55 million for the last three months.
According to industry ratings agency Rajar, Greg James, North’s breakfast program rival on radio experienced a similar increase, gaining almost 400,000 listeners to reach 4.3 million between July and September.
However, because James’s show was prolonged by 30 minutes during this time, the numbers cannot be directly compared.
From 6:00 to 10:00, North, Chris Stark, and Siân Welby host the Capital breakfast show. In their first three months, the trio gained 261,000 listeners, and this quarter, they have acquired another 151,000.
Capital Scotland, which has its own breakfast program and afternoon schedule, is not included in their figures.
North, who was born in Burnley, had previously worked with James on Radio 1, when she co-hosted the drivetime program with Vick Hope. She now hosts the show alongside Jamie Laing from Made in Chelsea.
During a hectic news quarter that included the UK general election and Donald Trump’s assassination attempt, speech-based breakfast shows, including news, also witnessed a rise in listeners.
