KARACHI: According to a report by News on Thursday, a man was shot and killed by thieves on the streets during a mugging that took place within the city’s SITE (Superhighway Industrial Area).
The victim was on his way home after selling his wife’s jewelry to pay for his daughter’s medical care, according to the victim’s family.
The news follows claims made by Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho that the city’s street crime rate has decreased by 50% in the first quarter of 2024. However, the number of deaths in the city from street crimes has topped 100.
The family said the dad, Farhan, was employed at a pharmaceutical company and was having financial difficulties as a result of his daughter’s condition.
