LAHORE, ISLAMABAD, AND KARACHI: Following the South African’s disputes with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), sources reported Geo News on Monday that Gary Kirsten, Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, had quit.
The Green Shirts are scheduled to travel to Australia for a three-match ODI series starting on November 4 and a T20I series with the same number of matches. Kirsten’s departure comes as a setback to the team.
In April, the board named Kirsten and Jason Gillespie of Australia as the men’s team’s read-ball and white-ball head coaches, respectively.
Both coaches received two-year contracts, but Kirsten’s tenure only lasted a few months when his relationship with the board soured, which the insiders blame on the South African’s capricious behavior and noncompliance with his agreement.
