LAHORE: In response to a declining Air Quality Index (AQI), Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb declared a “Green Lockdown” in the city’s worst polluted areas to fight growing smog levels.
Before the cold winter arrived, the capital of Punjab saw severe air pollution from heavy smog. The city’s air quality index (AQI) was 532 on Monday.
Notably, Lahore struggles with pollution every winter as the chilly air traps smoke, car emissions, and dust from construction.
In an interview with Lahore’s media, Aurangzeb emphasized the need of India and Pakistan working together and suggested a cooperative solution to the smog problem.
She stated that Indian Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant will receive an official letter.
