On Friday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government stated its “sincere interest” in taking part in the bidding process for the sale of the national flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), in an attempt to keep the airline under national control.
The announcement was made just one day after the final PIA privatization auction process only received one bid of Rs10 billion for a 60% share in the national flag carrier.
Six organizations were pre-qualified by the government in June, but only one real estate development company entered the bidding process and submitted an offer below the Rs85 billion minimum price established by the government.
The KP Board of Investment and Trade (BOIT) wrote to Privatization Minister Abdul Aleem Khan on Friday.
