LAHORE: With air quality hanging in the dangerous zone for weeks, life in Punjab’s capital is still significantly impacted by rising smog levels.
According to statistics from Swiss air quality monitor IQAir, Lahore topped the Air Quality Index (AQI) rating early Thursday morning with a level of above 800. The city has maintained its top spot till around 9am, when it reached 784.
Due to winds bringing pollution from neighboring India, Lahore’s atmosphere has been dangerous for its citizens for weeks after ranking among the cities with the highest AQI in the world, with levels regularly surpassing 1,000, Punjab’s Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Wednesday.
