Ed Sheeran claims that the people behind Band Aid 40 did not ask for his consent to use his voice in the new rendition of the charity hit song “Do They Know It’s Christmas.”
The Shape of You singer went on to share another tweet criticizing foreign help in Africa, saying he would have “respectfully declined” any authorization.
With the voices of George Michael, Sting, and Boy George, as well as artists like Chris Martin, Harry Styles, and the Sugababes who contributed to the Band Aid 20 and Band Aid 30 versions in 2004 and 2014, the new version of the festive hit combines old recordings to create the “ultimate” mix from Band Aid 1984.
Sheeran had previously performed with Coldplay’s Chris, One Direction, and Sam Smith on Band Aid 30.
