Two days after his release from prison, Jamey Johnson performed on stage at the 58th annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville on Wednesday.
At the event at Bridgestone Arena, the 49-year-old musician, who is well-known for his contributions to country music, participated in a star-studded tribute to George Strait, who was given the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
Additionally, Johnson honored Strait with a medley that included the popular song “Give It Away,” which he co-wrote.
A citizen of Alabama was taken into custody on Sunday in Williamson County, Tennessee, on suspicion of speeding and drug possession.
The arrest was confirmed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, who also stated that the incident is still being investigated.
Johnson gave a performance that Rolling Stone called “invigorated” and “triumphant,” despite the recent legal issues.
