On Thursday, stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah cautioned Australia that star batsman Virat Kohli was appearing “ominous” and stressed that India was not carrying any baggage from their Test thumping by New Zealand.
India is coming off their first home series defeat in twelve years going into Friday’s opener of five Test matches against Australia in Perth.
They were just looking forward, however, according to speedy Bumrah, who will captain the team after Rohit Sharma stays at home after the birth of his second kid.
“The great thing about cricket is that you start from zero whether you win or lose,” he said to reporters.
That’s my perspective on the game, then.
“Obviously, yes, we were upset and disappointed.”
