Khawaja Imran Nazir, the Punjab Health Minister, ordered on Tuesday that urgent steps be taken to improve the functioning of dialysis facilities set up under the Punjab AIDS and Hepatitis Control Program.
He gave important directives to 85 dialysis facilities that are housed in tehsil headquarters (THQ) and district headquarters (DHQ) hospitals around the province during a review meeting.
The minister emphasized the importance of patient safety and the necessity of a thorough inspection report for each patient enrolled in these facilities. “To ensure compliance with health standards, the inspection report should be submitted immediately,” he said.
To reduce the danger of cross-infection, dialysis facilities with ten or more units have been urged to set aside a specific unit just for HIV-positive patients.Additionally, all patients coming at these institutions will undergo thorough screening.
