Two years after his role in a 2022 boat tragedy off the coast of Miami that claimed the life of a teenage girl, a well-known Florida real estate mogul who is charged with homicide turned himself in to authorities last week.
Prosecutors and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officials say that George Pino, 54, was driving a 29-foot boat with his wife and 12 children on board on September 4, 2022, when he struck a channel marker close to Boca Chita Key, killing 17-year-old Luciana Fernandez and seriously injuring another 17-year-old and a 16-year-old.
According to the Miami Herald, Pino made an appearance in a Miami-Dade courthouse on Thursday, flanked by dozens of friends and family. He entered a not guilty plea to a charge of felony homicide.
