ISLAMABAD: In an attempt to convince Bushra Bibi not to march to D-Chowk, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had been speaking with several PTI leaders and even gave two of them a helicopter so they could travel to Hassan Abdal, which is around 45 kilometers from Islamabad. However, Bibi ignored everyone.

The recent background talks between the PTI leadership and the administration have occasionally raised the prospect of a breakthrough in recent days.

The first time was three days prior to the protest march on November 24, when the two parties had an opportunity to engage in official talks. However, PTI founder Imran Khan had set a deadline for his release last Friday.

It was rejected by the government. Following the ruling of the Islamabad High Court, the PTI leaders spent two days contacting the government, namely the interior minister, in an attempt to meet with Imran and persuade him to move the protest march to D-Chowk in Islamabad. The PTI leaders were not let to meet, though.

For the first two days ofAli Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, opposed Bushra Bibi’s participation in the march from Peshawar. She insisted on joining the protest march and led it by boarding a container, despite his attempts to persuade her to stay behind. According to a knowledgeable source, the two also disagreed on this matter.
