Navy intercepts ballistic missiles fired in the Red Sea by Houthis supported by Iran
According to a senior defense official who spoke to Fox News, the U.S. Navy shot down anti-ship ballistic missiles fired by incoming Houthi missiles backed by Iran on Tuesday in the Red Sea, indicating a major escalation in the area. Iran had supplied the Houthis in Yemen with three ballistic missiles, which the Navy shot down. According to officials, it was the first time the Navy had intercepted an approaching anti-ship ballistic missile during combat. Over the course of a 12-hour period, U.S. Central Command said that naval assets, including the USS Laboon and F/A-18 Super Hornets from the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, shot down 12 one-way attack drones, three anti-ship ballistic missiles, and two ground attack missiles fired by the Houthis. Since October 17, the Houthis have shot down almost 100 drones. The gang has launched an assault.
