Mumbai: Officials said that a boat carrying over 100 passengers overturned off the coast of Mumbai, the financial center of India, after colliding with an Indian Navy vessel on Wednesday, killing at least 13 people.
According to the navy, 99 people were recovered, and work is still being done for the remaining ones.
“Due to an engine failure, an Indian Navy vessel lost control during engine trials in Mumbai Harbor. Consequently, the vessel struck a passenger ferry, which then overturned,” the Navy stated in a statement on X.
The tragedy was caused by a boat carrying at least five people colliding with the passenger automobile, according to local TV outlets.
“Our boat overturned after the speedboat struck it and water began to fill it.
