In 2024, Karachi will issue 22,084 fewer permanent driver’s licenses: official

While 330,027 citizens received permanent licenses last year, only 280,943 licenses have been issued this year thus far.

Even though the licensing procedures in Karachi have been significantly modernized, there is still a concerning increase in traffic infractions and a downward trend in the number of people receiving driving licenses.

Branches of DIG Driving Licence According to Iqbal Dara, there were 22,084 fewer permanent licenses in 2024 than in 2023. Only 280,943 licenses have been issued so far this year, compared to 330,027 citizens who received permanent licenses last year.

In a similar vein, learner licenses increased slightly this year, from 282,385 in 2023 to 285,384 this year. In 2024, there were 26,553 overseas driving permits issued, up from 22,813 the previous year.

By 2024, Sindh’s license branches had upgraded to online operations, CCTV cameras, and a “corruption-free” environment.

Pakistani nationals all around the world can now use the system to apply online for learner licenses and renew those that already exist.
