ISLAMABAD: After more than four years of a break, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has finally resumed its long-awaited flights to Europe. The first flight left for Paris on Friday, marking a significant milestone for the national airline.
Concerns regarding Pakistani authorities’ and its Civil Aviation Authority’s capacity to guarantee adherence to international aviation standards led to the suspension of PIA’s authorization to operate in Europe in June 2020.
Around 12:40 p.m., the flight departed Islamabad, making it the only airline to provide a direct route to and from the European Union.
Passenger Shumaila Rana, a 38-year-old German schoolteacher, stated, “This is my first time traveling with PIA.”
