A court in Pakistan has proclaimed Rolf John Widerøe and the chief editor of Norway’s extreme-right tabloid Verdens Gang (VG) as proclaimed offenders for their willful failure to appear in court for publishing a false and defamatory story about Pakistan and businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor, who is of Pakistani descent.
After Widerøe and the VG Editor failed to respond to previous notices sent and served in Norway at the tabloid’s address, Judge Abid Zubair of the Additional District and Session court in Ferozwala declared Widerøe and the chief editor to be proclaimed offenders in a court declaration published in Pakistan’s top English-language dailies.
