There were “several unresolved clauses,” according to the Israeli prime minister’s office, but it hoped that an agreement could be finalized on Wednesday night. Earlier, a Hamas representative declared that the Doha mediators’ proposal had been approved.
Also on social media, US President-elect Donald Trump posted, “We have a deal for the hostages in the Middle East.”
According to reports, 33 of the hostages held by Hamas will be traded for Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons during the first six weeks of the ceasefire. The three-phase plan has not yet been made public.
After two weeks, negotiations would begin for the second phase, which would include a “sustainable calm,” the release of the remaining prisoners, and a complete departure of Israeli troops.
