BULAWAYO: Corbin Bosch's all-around skill and rookie Lhuan-dre Pretorius's record-breaking century helped South Africa defeat Zimbabwe by a resounding 328 runs in the opening Test match. In the first Test of the two-match series, the home team's batting line collapsed on a pitiful 208 runs while chasing a difficult 537-run goal. Bosch removed the number three batsman on the first ball of the day, giving Zimbabwe the worst possible start as they attempted to rally from 32-1 through opener Prince Masvaure and Nick Welch (0). Following the early blow, Masvaure was joined by first-innings centurion Sean Williams for a short 32-run partnership.

According to the military’s media wing, security personnel in Balochistan’s Zhob district killed five terrorists after foiling an infiltration attempt near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on Sunday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) claimed in a statement that during the night of January 18–19, they observed a group of terrorists attempting to cross the Pak–Afghanistan border in the general vicinity of Sambaza, Zhob district.

“Their attempt to infiltrate was successfully engaged and thwarted by own troops.” Five Khwarij were consequently condemned to damnation.

According to the ISPR, Pakistan has repeatedly requested that the Afghan interim government guarantee efficient border control on their side of the border.
