In the years prior to his imprisonment, nine women independently reported one of Scotland’s most active and predatory romance scammers to the police.
Women who had attempted to report Christopher Harkins in the past ten years claimed they were “dismissed” when they went to Police Scotland, despite the fact that he was ultimately sentenced to 12 years in prison in July 2024.
According to a Disclosure investigation, Police Scotland received nine reports from women who had met Harkins on dating apps like Tinder between 2012 and 2019.
The women claimed to have told police that Harkins had stolen tens of thousands of pounds, threatened and harassed them, and taken private photos and films without their permission.
