Following a recent change in the weather, three major public hospitals in Karachi have reported a considerable increase in respiratory ailments, such as fevers, coughs, and colds. This increase has sparked worries about a possible COVID-19 revival.
Dr. Azra Pechuho, the provincial health minister for Sindh, however, denied rumors that the city was experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak. Just seven of the more over 100 COVID-19 tests that were recently performed yielded positive results, according to a statement issued by her office. “There is no need for alarm,” Dr. Pechuho said, adding that COVID-19 is now handled globally as being similar to influenza.
Professor Dr. Wasim Jamalvi, head of the pediatrics department at Civil Hospital Karachi, blamed the rise in respiratory ailments on shifting weather patterns.
