ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has canceled the official dialogue process, but he hasn’t instructed his party leadership on how to handle backchannel discussions.
Backchannel communications and negotiations were publicly denied by all parties involved, including the government, the establishment, and even the PTI. However, during the past few months, there have been various rounds of behind-the-scenes communication.
In his background interviews with The News, a key PTI source claimed that Khan had not ended the backchannel discussions while halting official negotiations with the government.
On the condition of anonymity, the PTI leader stated, “The backchannel talks have not been closed by the other side as well.”
When approached, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar refuted the backchannel discussions. “Neither,” he said.
