PESHAWAR: Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, the adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister, announced on Sunday that the provincial administration would send two delegations to Afghanistan to negotiate with Kabul, marking a significant diplomatic breakthrough.
Two delegations will be sent to Kabul in accordance with the terms of reference (ToRs); the first will be entrusted with managing diplomatic affairs and establishing a favorable atmosphere for discussions, while the second will include a range of stakeholders.
The trend coincides with a rise in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, which Islamabad has repeatedly attributed to banned organizations with headquarters in Kabul. The Afghan Taliban-led government has strongly disputed this.
The two countries’ porous border, which is around 2,500 kilometers long and has multiple crossing locations.
