MELBOURNE: After pleading guilty to domestic abuse charges, former Australia test hitter and TV commentator Michael Slater was sentenced to four years in prison on Tuesday. However, he will be released after more than a year in detention.
According to a registrar at the Maroochydore District Court, Slater’s jail term was partially suspended.
Slater was charged with several domestic violence offenses on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland state between December 5, 2023, and April 12, 2024, and was detained in police custody before the judge denied him bail just over a year ago.
Among the charges were claims of stalking, burglary, assault, and strangling in connection with many instances against a woman in the Noosa area.
