Following the April 22 Pahalgam incident, India has banned prominent Pakistani drama channels on YouTube, including ARY Digital, Har Pal Geo, and Hum TV, in yet another step up in censorship and political reprisal.
Given that Pakistan’s television dramas had amassed a sizable and devoted fan base in India over the previous ten years, the decision, which was reportedly suggested by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, has disappointed both fans and content producers.
When viewers try to access these channels, they are now presented with the following notice:
“Due to a government order pertaining to public order or national security, this content is currently unavailable in this country.”
Millions of Indian households who have been emotionally invested in Pakistani drama programming are impacted by the decision.
