Spain’s Civil Guard told the BBC that at least three individuals have died in an incident connected to a severe power outage that shut down the nation on Monday.
Spanish media reported that they were from the same family and died in the northwest municipality of Taboadela.
The Civil Guard was unable to provide further information, however police are apparently looking into whether carbon monoxide from a malfunctioning energy generator contributed to their deaths.
The origin of Monday’s power outage that created chaos throughout Spain and Portugal is still being investigated by officials.
