A ship that was scheduled to sail to Gaza was hit by drones in international waters off the coast of Malta, according to activists, who seem to be accusing Israel of being responsible for the incident.
The Conscience was attacked at 00:23 local time on Friday, according to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which immediately sent out an SOS signal.
A crew member on a nearby oil tanker captured the flotilla ship’s distress call, which was relayed to the news. It is evident that the flotilla ship’s skipper is reporting drone strikes and a fire aboard.
According to the Maltese authorities, a fire on board the ship was “brought under control overnight” and all passengers were “confirmed safe”.
