TAIPEI/NEW DELHI: Following India’s retaliatory attack on Pakistan on Wednesday, which sparked concerns of an escalation, airlines such as United Airlines and Korean Air canceled or rerouted flights, while over a dozen Indian airports were closed.
In the flare-up, which came after an incident that killed 26 people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) last month, India invaded Azad Kashmir, and Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets.
Following the incident, pictures from flight monitoring websites revealed a lengthy line of airplanes flying over Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman, suggesting that airspace may be congested.
Pakistani authorities reported that when India struck, 57 foreign flights were in their airspace.
