DOHA: During President Donald Trump’s visit to the Gulf Arab nation, Qatar signed an agreement on Wednesday to buy aircraft from American manufacturer Boeing for Qatar Airways.
Trump said that 160 jets were part of the $200 billion agreement. The signing ceremony in Doha was observed by Trump and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
Following a series of agreements with Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, the arrangement was revealed during Trump’s second stop on a Gulf states tour.
At the signing ceremony, Trump claimed that Kelly Ortberg, the CEO of Boeing, informed him that “it’s the largest order of jets in the history of Boeing, that’s good.”
“It is more than $200 billion, but 160 for the jets, that’s fantastic,” Trump continued.
