The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), which offers financial aid to low-income families and vulnerable groups, is an essential component of Pakistan’s social safety net.
The national budget is expected to include Rs 716 billion for BISP in the next fiscal year.
It is suggested that the budgetary allotment for BISP be raised by up to 20% in the upcoming fiscal year in order to improve the program’s impact and address growing inflation and socioeconomic issues.
Improved stipend levels, more beneficiary coverage, and increased fund distribution clarity will all be made possible by this increase.
Important elements of the proposal:
A rise in monetary transfers
The program’s monthly cash transfer amount would increase by Rs 1,000 beginning in January 2026.
