The arrest of a Muslim scholar in India named Professor Ali Khan for his remarks on “Operation Sindoor” has drawn criticism from civil rights organizations as well as Indian media outlets, who have publicly questioned the validity of the sedition accusations against him.
On May 8, Professor Khan expressed his satisfaction on social media that so many right-wing critics were applauding Colonel Sofia Qureshi. He said that they may speak out against the BJP’s hate politics, home demolitions, and mob lynchings and demand that these individuals be protected as Indians.
An FIR was filed in response to this article, allegedly for making “anti-national” comments and disparaging “daughters of India.”
